How many cars... - Model Train Forum
Did some checking and found an Athearn car (2659) with metal axles (plastic wheels) rolls very well compared to the plastic axle cars. Drastic difference. Did kill* the "polar express" locomotive that came with the village express pulling 10 cars...lol that was fun. It did pull them for a bit while pulling about .5amp.
Atlas 21" Passenger Cars - California Zephyr - Model Train Forum
To replace the Atlas California Zephyr cars, I have located one 5 car set on eBay from 2018 from a seller at $550 for a MSRP item of $349.99 from the MTH Product Locator tool. I HATE paying more than list from eBay stores.
Fastrack, Curves and Cars - Model Train Forum
Like Lehigh74 says, try and use the biggest curves possible. And, use easements if you can. For instance, on each 180 degree end of the outer loop of my MTH RealTrax oval, I ease into the curve with a section of 084 curved track, then a section of 072 curved track, then three sections of 054 curved track, then ease back out with an 072 curve and an 084 curved section, for a full 180 degree turn.
Crashing Model Trains and Cars | Model Train Forum
Got a kick out of your video. It was funny watching those dinkey cars knock that F3 locomotive off the tracks. In real life, that would be like a 3,000 to 4,000 lb. car hitting a 117 ton locomotive, which of course, wouldn't budge. Very entertaining.
Walthers Heavyweight passenger cars - Model Train Forum
BTW, in my experience, it gets worse with backing more than two of those cars. I don't do it on curves under 30" if I can help it. I don't know about the most modern issue of those cars (mine date to 2005), but their claim on the box that they are good to 24" curves is laughable. Maybe their N-scale stuff is, if they sell it.
Con-Cor - Model Train Forum
Years ago Atlas marketed some C&NW passenger cars that came bulb-lighted. You can remove the tops of the cars, unscrew the bulb modules and wire in LED strips, wrapping the wires around the screw threads and screwing the screws back in. Then pushing the car top back on. The C&NW cars used to be common. I used some of them for parts.
A question on mounting diaphragms on passenger cars.... - Model Train Forum
Going to pick up some passenger car diaphragms (610-9060-010) from Hennings Trains. They are made to fit the K-Line Heavyweight passenger cars. I want to put them on Williams extruded aluminum modern angular Amtrak cars. The door outlines are not as pronounced on these as on the K-line cars and the mounting area is not plastic.

American Flyer passenger cars - Model Train Forum
Looking for how to remove the tops of the 3150, 3161 and 3162 American Flyer cars. 3150 is the Baggage car, 3161 is a Pullman and 3162 is the Observation. Trying not to hurt them but need to disassemble for refurbishment and install lighting. How do you get these things apart without hurting them
